Not long ago, the Pushkin House in London, together with the University of London, invited Dina Rubina to hold a meeting on Zoom.
The topic was supposed to be literary issues - a discussion of the writer’s books.
Some time ago, Dina received this letter from the moderator of this meeting:
“Good afternoon, Dina.
The Pushkin House advertised our upcoming conversation on social media and immediately received critical messages regarding your position on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. They would like to understand your position on this issue before reacting in any way.
Could you formulate your position and send it to me as soon as possible?
Natalia"
Fragments of an OPEN LETTER from Dina Rubina:
“Dear Natalia!
…On October 7, Saturday, the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah, the ruthless, well-trained, carefully prepared and well-equipped terrorist regime of Hamas, ruling in the Gaza enclave (which Israel left about 20 years ago), attacked dozens of peaceful kibbutzim , simultaneously bombarding the territory of my country with tens of thousands of missiles. Atrocities that even the Bible cannot describe, atrocities and horrors that pale in comparison to the crimes of Sodom and Gomorrah (captured, by the way, by the head and chest cameras of the killers themselves and boastfully sent by them in real time to the Internet), can shock any normal person.
For several hours, thousands of joyful and blood-drunk animals raped women, children and men, shooting victims in the crotches and heads, cutting off women's breasts and playing football with them; cutting babies from the bellies of pregnant women and immediately beheading them, tying up and burning small children. There were so many charred and completely burned corpses that for many weeks pathologists could not cope with the enormous workload of identifying individuals.
My friend, who worked in the emergency room of a New York hospital for 20 years, and then spent another 15 years in Israel identifying remains, was one of the first to arrive at the burnt and bloodied kibbutzim in a group of rescuers and doctors... She still cannot sleep. A medic, accustomed to cutting up corpses, she lost consciousness from what she saw, and then vomited in the car all the way back. What these people saw defies description.
Together with Hamas militants, the “civilian population” rushed into the holes in the fence, joining in pogroms of an unprecedented scale, robbing, killing, dragging with them to Gaza everything that came to hand. Among these “Palestinian civilians” were 450 members of the UN rabble from UNRWA.
For all those years when the world community literally poured hundreds of millions of dollars into this piece of land (the Gaza Strip) - and the annual budget of UNRWA alone is equal to a BILLION dollars! “For all these years, Hamas has been using this money to build an empire with a complex system of underground tunnels, accumulating weapons, teaching elementary school students how to disassemble and assemble a Kalashnikov assault rifle, printing textbooks in which hatred of Israel is beyond description, in which even math problems look like this: “ There were ten Jews, the shahid killed four, how many are left?...
And now, when, finally, shocked by the monstrous crime of these bastards, Israel is waging a war to destroy the Hamas terrorists, who so carefully prepared this war, placing thousands of shells in all hospitals, schools, kindergartens... - here the academic environment of the whole world reared up, concerned about the “genocide of the Palestinian people” - based, of course, on data provided by... who? That’s right, the same Hamas, the same UNROR...
...Are you serious?! Are you seriously?!!
I, you know, am a writer by profession. All my life, for more than fifty years, I have been composing words. My novels have been translated into 40 languages, including, by the way, Albanian, Turkish, Chinese, Esperanto... and a hell of a lot of others.
Now, with great pleasure, without too much choice of expressions, I sincerely and with all the strength of my soul send to the ASS all the brainless “intellectuals” who are interested in my position. Actually, very soon you will all find yourself there without me.
Dina Rubina.
