On April 29, 2025, Moskovsky Komsomolets and Pravda.ru announced that the “Zhukovsky Research Center conducted the world's first supersonic civilian airplane test” (similar information ran in dozens of other Russian publications, see, for example, here, here and here). This news was based on a publication in the official Telegram channel of the Russian Government and was supported by a short video clip of the tests. 

According to the Russian Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), annual inflation in December 2024 amounted to 9,5% [ref], and the average for 2024 is 8,4% [ref]. This allows the Russian authorities to claim that in the third year of the war, despite international sanctions, they managed to keep inflation below 10%, which is the boundary between moderate and galloping inflation, and to ensure real (inflation-adjusted) growth of macroeconomic indicators such as GDP and real incomes of the population.

Russian mass media (see more) and news agencies deny the tragedy of the 1932-33 famine in Ukraine. In particular, they claim that as a result of the 1932-33 famine, the largest number of people in the USSR died not in Ukraine, but in Kazakhstan and Russia. 

Statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin: in an interview with Tucker Carlson on February 6, 2024: “When the Soviet Union was formed, it was already 1922, the Bolsheviks created Soviet Ukraine, which until now did not exist at all” and during a meeting with Valery Zorkin, chairman of the Constitutional Court, on May 23, 2023: “Before the formation of the Ukrainian SSR in 1922, there was no Ukraine in the history of mankind”.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated at a press conference in Antalya on March 10, 2022: “Do we plan to attack other countries? No, we are not planning to. We have not attacked Ukraine either...” and in a June 16, 2022 interview with the BBC he said: “We have not invaded Ukraine. We have declared a special military operation.” 

A quote by Russian President Vladimir Putin from his address on February 24, 2022, in connection with the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian army: “... practically everywhere where the West comes to establish its order, there is disregard for international law. Our country's promises not to expand NATO not one inch eastward. I repeat - deceived, or in popular parlance, simply thrown away... You and I were simply left with no other opportunity to defend Russia. In this connection... I have taken the decision to conduct a special military operation.

Russian President V. Putin said at the World Youth Festival in Sochi 03/06/2024: “Belgium has largely appeared on the world map as an independent state, including mainly thanks to Russia and Russia’s position”.

Russian bloggers are spreading the claim that the annexation of Crimea in 2014 does not violate the 2003 Russian-Ukrainian Border Treaty, as there is no description of the water border in this treaty and the land border was not violated by anyone as a result of the annexation of Crimea (see, for example, posts [1] and [2]).

On the morning of July 8, 2024, the city of Kiev was subjected to a massive rocket attack. One of the missiles hit the Okhmatdyt children's hospital, causing widespread destruction and numerous human casualties. Ukrainian officials claim it was a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile. Trust but Verify specialists have verified this version.

Russian President V. Putin in an interview with T. Carlson 02/06/2024: “When the Soviet Union was formed, this is already 1922, the founder of the Soviet state, Lenin, for unknown reasons, endowed the emerging Soviet Ukraine with lands, people living in these territories, even if they had never before were not called Ukraine, for some reason during formation all this was “merged” into the Ukrainian SSR... Soviet Ukraine received a huge number of territories that never had anything to do with it, especially the Black Sea region."

Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, and other Russian officials have repeatedly stated that on May 20, 2024, along with the presidential term of the head of Ukraine, his legitimacy expired. 

Hungarian Prime Minister V. Orban said at a press conference on 21.12.2023 that Russia's military actions on the territory of Ukraine are "a military operation, as there has been no declaration of war between the two countries. When Russia declares war, then there will be war".

Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN, V. Nebenzya, said in an interview with the BBC on 06.02.2024 that "the UN International Court of Justice ... refused to call Russia a terrorist state ... and rejected claims that Russia sponsored terrorism".

Russian President V.Putin said: "According to the results of 2022, Russia has become one of the five largest economies in the world and has overtaken the Federal Republic of Germany in purchasing power parity, in terms of economic volume" (at the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects on August 22, 2023);
"The largest number of sanctions that are applied in the world are applied against Russia. And we have become the first economy in Europe during this time" (in an interview with T. Carlson on February 6, 2024).
